1. Position dehydrator and receiver assembly over
mounting holes in floor pan and secure with
four mounting bolts.
2. Remove caps from high pressure tube to
evaporator and dehydrator outlet. Using new
seal, connect line and fitting.
Use Tool -
AC L 53 - 6.
3. Remove caps from low pressure tube to
receiver, and receiver fit-ting, and using Tool -
ACL53-7, connect tube and fitting.
4. Remove receiver shut off valve stem cap and
open valve by turning the stem
counterclockwise with Tool
-
ACL53-5 until seated. Replace cap.
3. If both gauges read neutral system pressure,
pump system down by following "Pump Down
Procedure". NOTE: If the system pressure is
low, or there is no pressure, this step may be
omitted.
4. Loosen high pressure tube from dehydrator to
evaporator and slowly allow refrigerant to
exhaust. Dis-connect and cap tube and fitting.
5.
turns, using Tool - ACL53-5. Both gauges will
read neutral system pressure (approximately 50
- 75 P.S.I. at an outside air temperature of
approximately 70
0
- 75
0
). See figure 26.
Disconnect inlet tube from receiver to
dehydrator at dehydrator, and cap tube and
fitting.
5. Pressure test, evacuate and charge according to
procedure under "Pressure Testing, Evacuating
and Charging System".
6. Loosen dehydrator bracket screw from receiver
tank support.
7.
Slide dehydrator assembly rear-ward from
bracket, and remove.
REMOVAL OF DEHYDRATOR
Install Pressure Test Gauge Manifold, Tool -
ACL53-3, with both gauge valves turned in the
full clockwise position, so that the high pressure
gauge hose is connected to the high pressure
valve service port and the low pressure gauge
hose is connected to the low pressure valve
service port.
INSTALLATION OF DEHYDRATOR
ASSEMBLY
1. Slide dehydrator assembly forward into its
bracket mounted on the receiver tank support.
CAUTION: When installing de-hydrator
assembly be sure that out-let connection is
toward the rear of car as indicated on label.
2. Tighten dehydrator bracket screw.
3. Remove caps from dehydrator and tube fittings.
2. Turn low pressure valve located on right front
fender apron and high pressure valve located
on condenser, in the clockwise directions 1-
1/2
4. Connect inlet tube from receiver to dehydrator
and high pressure tube from dehydrator to
evaporator. Tighten connections with Tool -
ACL53-6. Use new seals.
